Flava

Flava are best known for reaching the semi finals of the popular TV show Britain's Got Talent 2008. This has gained them national recognition and more importantly the opportunity to do what they love, which is to dance and perform.

Said Simon Cowell: "The raw talent and the choreography are as good as anything I’ve seen in America, they are one of the best dance acts I've seen in this country, they are terrific”.

However, with the help and guidance of Fiona Richardson, lead group member Kyle Richardson's mother, Flava were a success in their own right prior to Britain's Got Talent, not only winning numerous competitions but also representing England at the World Hip Hop Championships and the UK at the Dance Excellence Awards in Los Angeles.

The group was brought together 5 years ago when most were only 14 years old. Through their love of music and street dance these teenagers stayed focused and were able to express themselves during those crucial years of growing up. Now, as a well established group of strong role models, they want to be able to inspire other young people through their passion for dance.

Flava are unique in more ways than one. Alongside performing at high profile events such as Stella McCartney's fashion show, the graduation ceremony for Jamie Oliver's recruits at the Eden project, PPL at Cafe de Paris in December, Centre of Social Justice awards and the Body Shop, they also attend and support many charity events throughout the UK, two of which are very close to Flava's hearts; the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, a charity which supports and offers guidance to reduce people's fear of crime and the Philip Lawrence awards – rewarding young people aged 11- 20 for their outstanding achievements in good citizenship.

Flava support the crackdown on gangs and knife crime; “We represent the 'good hoodies'; “We promote this within our workshops and visits to schools, which is why their 'b inspired workshops' caught the eye of the UK Police and local Councils with who Flava are currently working and are preparing to visit the Home Secretary to apply for support and funding to bring these workshops into schools across the whole of the UK. Flava want to inspire children of all ages to have an interest and to live their dreams.

The future is bright for Flava with a record deal soon to be closed and they are currently recording their first track (yes they can sing as well) plus their fitness video 'Flava Fit' soon to be hitting the shelves, so expect 2009 to be absolutely stuffed full of FLAVA!
