Ockham’s Razor is three aerial artists who specialise in creating physical theatre around new pieces of aerial equipment. Ockham’s Razor, based in London, was founded in 2004. The company aims to combine circus, dance and visual theatre to make work that is arresting and entertaining.Ockham’s Razor’s first piece, Memento Mori, premiered at the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale, Paris, winning the Jeunes Talents Cirque award in 2004. Their second piece, Every Action…, premiered at La Route du Cirque, Nexon in 2005 to critical acclaim. They premiered their third piece Arc, with two sold out nights at The Linbury Studio, Royal Opera House as part of The London International Mime Festival 2007. The moods of the three pieces are quite different which is one of the joys of performing 3 shorts. Every Action... is light and charming, Memento Mori beautiful and intimate and Arc is theatrical and epic.In 2008 Ockham’s Razor became an Art Council, London - Regularly Funded Organisation.Ockham’s Razor are Alex Harvey, Charlotte Mooney, and Tina Koch who met at the Circomedia Academy of Contemporary Circus and Physical Performance where they all trained in aerial and physical theatre. The name Ockham's Razor comes from a logical principle attributed to the mediaeval philosopher William of Ockham. It states that between two plausible theories, the simpler is preferable. It is called a razor because it cuts out unnecessary elements, removing ambiguities and redundancies. As a company we work with this simple approach.
