Martin began his training at the Elwyn School of Dance in Brighouse,(West Yorkshire), before successfully auditioning for the Royal Ballet School at the age of 11. After completing 5 years at White Lodge Martin gained entry to the Royal Ballet’s Upper School, completing the 2 year professional Classical Ballet Course, and performing with the Company in several productions including, Romeo and Juliet, Petrushka, La Valse and Sleeping Beauty.After finishing college Martin took his first professional job with the ‘Deutsche Oper am Rhein’ in Dusseldorf, (Germany) under the directorship of Heinz Spoerli, before returning home and dancing as soloist for the ‘City Ballet of London’, directed by Harold King, for 3 years performing as the betrayed soldier in Carmen, and the Prince of North in Sleeping Beauty.In 2000 Martin changed directions and took on the role of the ‘Slavemaster’, in the Phantom of the Opera on the National Tour in Southampton, Bradford and Manchester.After which new horizons beckoned, Martin moved to Tokyo to join the K-ballet Company as a soloist for 3 years before deciding to go out on his own as a guest principal dancer working in Japan performing the role of the Prince in Swan Lake and the Nutcracker.Moving back Martin guest performed for the Vienna Festival Ballet in their production of Sleeping Beauty as Prince Charming on a U.K tour before moving over to South Africa to work for the Cape Town City Ballet Company as Guest principal before moving back to England and touring the U.K performing in the Nutcracker and Swan Lake Christmas 2007.Martin has also taught for many Colleges in London and continues to work closely with the development of performers for the ‘Billy Elliot’ Musical in the West End.
